Call
to Convention
In
accordance with the provisions of Canon 2,
Section 3, of the Canons of the Convocation of American Churches in
Europe, it
is my pleasure to give notice hereby to all canonically resident and
other
licensed clergy of the Convocation, to all duly certified lay
delegates, and to
other friends of the Convocation, that the 2008
Annual Convention will be held at
All Saints
Church
Chauss�e de Charleroi 2
B-1420 BRAINE L’ALLEUD, Belgium
from
Thursday, October 16 to Sunday, October 19, 2008.
The
theme of this year’s Convention is “Affirming
God’s Word in Europe: Telling the Convocation’s Story”. You
will receive
more information in due course on the special sessions planned around
this
theme. The provisional Agenda enclosed with this Call to
Convention is subject to further changes. Registration for all
delegates and
visitors will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16. Everyone is
urged to
stay until lunchtime on Sunday, October 19 in order to participate in
the
Closing Eucharist of the Convention, at which the Most Rev. Katharine
Jefferts-Schori, Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church,
will
preside and preach.
A Convention
registration form
and information on hotels are also enclosed. Please read them
carefully and complete one form per clergy and lay delegate, which
should be
returned as indicated in the enclosed documentation. The
deadline for registration and payment of registration fees is
September 1, 2008. We strongly advise participants wishing to register
on-line
to send a copy by fax or e-mail to the addresses indicated, as we have
been
informed that the registration Web site may not be operational until
end-July.
Finally, please note that the deadline for obtaining the preferential
rate at
the hotels indicated is August 1, 2008.
