The consecration weekend, beginning the Celebration of Ministry on Friday, April 5, through to the Reception after the Ordination and Consecration service on Saturday, April 6, was a glorious celebration of our mutual ministry in Europe: past, present, and future.

The timetable for the Consecration weekend was:

Thursday, April 4:

The meetings of each of the three Board of Foreign Parishes will be held at The American Cathedral in Paris on the following schedule:

  • 1:30 p.m. Board of St. James Church, Florence
  • 3:00 p.m. Board of St. Paul’s Church, Rome
  • 4:30 p.m. Board of Foreign Parishes
  • Reception follows at 6:00 p.m.
Friday, April 5
  • 8:00 a.m. Council of Advice meets, Bert’s, 4 ave. President Wilson
  • 10:15 a.m. Press briefing, Presiding Bishop and Bishop-elect, Martyrs’ Chapel
  • 11:00 a.m. Presiding Bishop meets with Convocation clergy, chancel
  • Convocation clergy spouses and partners meet with the Bishop’s spouse, Hélène Whalon, and the Bishop-elect’s spouse, Judith Edington, lower-level Sunday School rooms
  • 12:15 p.m. Presiding Bishop blesses the Cathedral’s Mission Lunch, parish hall
  • 12:30 p.m. Lunch for Presiding Bishop, Convocation clergy and spouses, Maison Aubrac, 37 rue Marbeuf
  • 1:30 – 6:00 p.m. Commission on Ministry of the Baptized (COMB) meets, crypt
  • 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Consecration rehearsal, Cathedral nave
  • 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Welcome and farewell celebration for Bishop-elect and Bishop, Cathedral nave
Saturday, April 6
  • 8:30 – 10:15 a.m. Bishops’ breakfast, signing, meeting with Presiding Bishop and vesting, Cathedral Leo Room and library, 2nd floor, and office, 3rd floor
  • 8:30 a.m. Bishop spouses’ breakfast, deanery
  • 9:30 a.m. Visiting, Ecumenical, and Convocation clergy vest in the lower-level Garden Classrooms. (Vesture for clergy who plan to process: Cassock, surplice and red stole; alb and red stole is also acceptable; or vesture traditional in your tradition)
  • 10:15-10:45 a.m. Convocation clergy having vested in the lower-level Garden Classrooms, meet with Bishop-elect in the Crypt, on same level
  • 10:30 a.m. Gathering celebration and music
  • 11:00 a.m. Ordination and consecration service
  • 1:45 p.m. Stand-up reception lunch, Cathedral nave*
Sunday, April 7
  • 11:00 a.m. Presiding Bishop celebrates and preaches at the Cathedral.
