March 18, 2021 Listening for Purpose

March 18, 2021: Listening for Purpose

    Text:

Ephesians 2:10: For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.

    Meditation:

We spend a great deal of time and effort trying to understand the purpose of the life we have been given. We struggle to relate our interests, our gifts, and our talents, to our occupations and our relationships. We imagine—or we are taught to think—that it is entirely up to us to find these answers for ourselves. How would we understand this differently if we listened for God’s purpose for us? What if our purpose had been ordained for us, designed for us by the God who has loved each of us into being and calls each of us into relationship with God and each other? How do we listen to hear God’s purpose for us?

    Questions:

    • Ask each other this question: Who are you called to be?
    • If you didn’t have to work alone to discern your purpose, but had God as your partner in that work, what changes would you make in how you seek that purpose?
